Extremely rare Ohio-Sound vintage Hi-Fi system consisting of the UX 180 stereo integrated amplifier/mixer and the matching TX 78 AM/FM stereo tuner. Originally marketed by the Dutch audio brand Ohio-Sound during the early 1970s., this unusual two-piece system is exceptionally difficult to find, particularly as a complete matching set in this condition.

Both components feature beautifully brushed aluminium front panels and their original matching wooden cabinets. The distinctive industrial design, large rotary controls, vertical mixing faders and twin analogue tuning meters give this system a remarkable professional studio appearance.

The Ohio-Sound UX 180 is a transistorised stereo integrated amplifier with built-in mixing facilities. It provides independently adjustable Phono, Microphone, Tuner, Tape and Auxiliary channels through five front-mounted sliding controls.

The amplifier also includes master volume, balance, bass and treble controls, together with Loudness, Stereo, Main Speaker and Remote Speaker selection. Front-panel DIN connections are provided for microphone and headphones, while the rear panel includes DIN source inputs and connections for two pairs of loudspeakers.

The matching Ohio-Sound TX 78 is an integrated-circuit AM/FM stereo tuner featuring manual tuning, Mono/Stereo operation, AFC, Muting and a stereo reception indicator. Its five front-panel station presets allow favourite broadcasts to be stored and selected directly.

Two large illuminated analogue meters provide a particularly attractive display while tuning and monitoring the received signal. The tuner includes a 300-ohm antenna connection and a dedicated DIN audio output for connection to the UX 180 amplifier.

This European version operates directly from 220/240 volts AC. The amplifier also provides a rear switched 220-volt auxiliary outlet rated at a maximum of 100 VA. Please note that the connections are original European DIN-type sockets, as normally used on professional and domestic audio equipment of this period.

Both units have been carefully inspected, serviced and fully tested by our specialised technical department. All controls, switches, inputs, outputs, amplifier channels and tuner functions have been checked, and the complete system is operating perfectly.

The cosmetic condition is excellent considering its age, with very well-preserved aluminium front panels, original controls and matching wooden cabinets. Only minor signs of normal use and age may be present; please examine all photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the description.

Approximate dimensions of each component are 47 cm wide, 15 cm high and 35 cm deep. The combined height when stacked is approximately 30 cm, and the estimated total weight of the two units is approximately 18–20 kg.
