The transport uses a PLL-controlled DC servo motor and two heads: one for recording/playback and one for erasing. Published wow and flutter is 0.06% weighted NAB, with a frequency response of 30 Hz–16 kHz using chrome or ferrichrome tape and 30 Hz–13 kHz using normal tape.

Dolby B noise reduction helps reduce tape hiss, while independent three-position bias and equalisation selectors accommodate normal, chrome and ferrichrome tapes. Two illuminated VU meters and a separate peak-level indicator make it easier to set recording levels accurately.

One of the A-460’s distinctive features is its Auto Spacer system, which creates silent intervals between recordings. It offers a fixed interval of approximately three seconds or an adjustable interval of approximately two to eight seconds. Additional features include a memory counter, timer operation, an MPX filter and microphone/line mixing.

Connections include rear RCA line inputs and outputs, a DIN input/output socket, front microphone inputs and a headphone output. A front socket is also provided for the Auto Spacer remote-control accessory; the presence of this socket does not mean that a remote control is included.

Originally intended for the Japanese market, this unit operates on 100 V, 50/60 Hz. Before dispatch, our technical department will adapt its power supply for operation on 110/120 V or 220/240 V, according to the mains voltage in the destination country. This adaptation will use either an internally installed transformer or a suitable external transformer supplied with the equipment. The solution will depend on the required voltage, technical requirements and available internal space. Please confirm your destination country and mains voltage when placing your order.

Approximate dimensions are 440 mm wide × 164 mm high × 294 mm deep, with a weight of approximately 10 kg before packaging or the addition of an external transformer. Please allow sufficient clearance above the deck to open the cassette compartment. The equipment will be carefully packed for international transport.
