RARE BOSE MODEL 501X DIRECT/REFLECTING DOUBLE CUBE SPEAKER SYSTEM – MATCHING PAIR – EXCELLENT CONDITION

Offered for sale is an exceptionally rare matching pair of Bose Model 501X Direct/Reflecting Double Cube speakers, preserved in excellent original condition. These distinctive vintage Bose speakers are increasingly difficult to find, particularly as a complete and well-preserved pair.

This pair has the consecutive serial numbers 71F160309 and 71F160310, confirming that the two speakers belong together as an original matched set. All four original Bose front emblems are present, together with the original grilles, connection terminals, rotating mechanisms and rear level selectors.

Each speaker consists of two independently adjustable cube enclosures. The upper cube can be rotated to modify the balance between direct and reflected sound, allowing the listener to create a wider and more spacious sound field according to the room layout and listening position.

The Bose 501X was originally part of an advanced 2.1-channel system using Bose Direct/Reflecting technology. Its unusual double-cube design gives this model a distinctive appearance and makes it considerably rarer than the conventional Bose Acoustimass and Lifestyle cube speakers normally found on the second-hand market.

For optimum performance, these speakers should preferably be used with a suitable subwoofer or bass module and a crossover or high-pass filter at approximately 150 Hz. Sending powerful, unrestricted low-frequency signals directly to compact satellite speakers is not recommended.

The speakers are in excellent vintage condition, with only very minor signs of previous use. The grilles are remarkably well preserved, all four Bose badges remain fitted, and the rotating cube mechanisms and rear terminals are complete.
